Byron believes that we need to continue to increase state funding for K-12 basic education. Pennsylvania ranked 46th in percentage of state funding to local school districts in 2016. Funding less than 36% for local school districts, as the Commonwealth does currently, does not support a “thorough and efficient system of public education” as required by the state constitution. Investing in education helps grow our economy and increase state revenues in the long term as we produce children who become productive members of our society. A strong public education system is for the betterment of all of our citizens.
